BATHERS
The Personified Dialogue Dimensions: Ø30 x 30 cm
Material: Bronze
The Bathers is a unique, surrealist composition featuring a group of personified toothbrushes standing in a basin or pool, communicating with one another. In this work, Ernő Bartha elevates everyday objects into human-like characters, exploring the dynamics between individual identity and social existence.
The Psychology of the Bathers
The Dialogue of Characters: The Bathers is far more than a collection of forms; it is a spatial network of human destinies and attitudes. Each figure positioned within the basin tells a unique, silent story:
The Solitary Observer: A distinct figure reclines by the edge (the furnace area), isolated from the group, enjoying its solitude in a state of meditative calm.
Masculine and Feminine Principles: The composition explores the tension and harmony between genders. The posture of certain figures suggests the connection of lovers or the yearning for intimacy, while others embody a sense of modesty and self-reflection.
Social Dynamics: The negative space between the figures is as vital as the sculptures themselves; this void serves as the stage for communication, unspoken words, and the complexities of social interaction.
